An Update

I know I have been MIA lately and probably will be for a little while longer.  Not only have I been buried at work but there has also been a ridiculous amount of drama going on in my office.  I believe that it has all been resolved but I'm still coming down from it.  There were also several weeks where Julia would not go to sleep so there has just been no time to post. I have most of next week off for Spring Break and plan to use that time to decompress.  I promise I will be back soon, I just need to feel like things are 'normal' again.  I am participating in several blog tours in early April and have some other posts coming up at the end of March.  Thank you for your patience!

Quick Review: "My Lady Viper" by E. Knight

From Goodreads:  May, 1536. The Queen is dead. Long live the Queen. When Anne Boleyn falls to the executioner's axe on a cold spring morning, yet another Anne vows she will survive in the snakepit court of Henry VIII. But at what cost? Lady Anne Seymour knows her family hangs by a thread. If her sister-in-law Jane Seymour cannot give the King a son, she will be executed or set aside, and her family with her. Anne throws herself into the deadly and intoxicating intrigue of the Tudor court, determined at any price to see the new queen's marriage a success and the Seymour family elevated to supreme power. But Anne's machinations will earn her a reputation as a viper, and she must decide if her family's rise is worth the loss of her own soul... My Thoughts: This was such a refreshing read!  While I do love the Tudors, I am getting a little bored reading about them.  This book had the Tudors but it also had a new and unique protagonist which made

February Wrap Up

I don't know whether to be glad February is over or scared that it is March.  February was not a good month but March is going to be insane.  The blog has been kind of slow lately and it may continue to be that way for a while until life calms down a bit. I had a good reading month.  I read 7 books in February so now I am at 13 for the year.  Goodreads says I am on track to hit my goal of 80. Here are my February numbers: -7 books read    -0 non-fiction    -3 historical fiction (I am now at 6/25 for the Historical Fiction Challenge)    -2 review    -3 library books    -2 books I own (both were ebooks) I'm actually pretty happy with these numbers.  I hope to read at least 2 books I own in March as I'm a little behind on my goal of reading 20.  I started a non-fiction book last week but with everything going on, I just couldn't focus on it.  Right now, I really need books that are light and easy to read. On the blog in February: -11 posts

Mailbox Monday (44)

It's been a few weeks but I'm linking up with Mailbox Monday again today. The past few weeks have been ridiculously crazy so the fact that I didn't receive any books for a while was a good thing.  This week, even though things are still busy, I received several books all of which I am eager to read. From the Library: The Ruby Circle by Richelle Mead The Red Lily Crown by Elizabeth Loupas The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins For Review (from HFVBT): Inspector of the Dead by David Morrell Purchased (kindle book):   Season of Storms by Susanna Kearsley (This one was $1.99 the other day and I had some Amazon credits so I got it for free!  Helpful tip:  Many times, if you select the slowest shipping option on Amazon, they will give you a $1 credit toward ebooks, movies and music.  I usually need things right away but when I don't, I always choose this option.) What books did you receive this week?
