Happy Friday! (23)

This has been such a weird week so I am really happy to have a few days away from the office! Feature and Follow Friday is a weekly meme hosted by Parajunkee's View and Alison Can Read . This week's question:   I like unique names for characters and am looking forward to coming up with some when I start writing. What’s the most unique character name you’ve come across? Oh my goodness, there are so many books with unique names in them and I am struggling to think of all of them.  I do have to say that one of my favorites is 'Elphaba' from Wicked.  It's one of a kind but it fits that character so well. I alos always think of Cricket and Calliope from Lola and the Boy Next Door and there is also Katniss and Peeta from The Hunger Games.  The Black Dagger Brotherhood books are definitely chock full of unique names as are Twilight (Renesmee anyone?) and Harry Potter.  Anyway, what are some unique character names you have come across? Also,...

Another Friday, yippee! Once again, the past week has kicked my butt so I am ready for the weekend!  It's also time for Friday memes! Follow Friday is a weekly meme hosted by Parajunkee's View and Alison Can Read . This week's question is:  If you could have dinner with your favorite book character, who would you eat with and what would you serve? Oh my goodness, this is so hard!  I would probably want to have dinner with Kira from We the Living.  We would probably eat something Russian like pelmeni or stroganoff. I also wouldn't mind having dinner with the Black Dagger Brotherhood. ; ) Who would you like to eat with? The Book Blog Hop is a weekly meme hosted by Jen at Crazy for Books .  It's a great way to meet new bloggers and check cool blogs! This week's question is :  What is your favorite Halloween costume ? I love homemade, creative costumes.  I recently read online about someone who dressed up as an "unha...

Happy Friday everyone!  This week has been INSANE at work so I am very excited that it's Friday! The Book Blogger Hop is a weekly meme hosted by Jen at Crazy for Books .  It's a great way to check out other blogs and meet some cool bloggers. This week's question is:  What's your favorite candy? I LOVE sweets so this is a tough question!  I would have to say that my favorite candies are Peanut Butter M&M's and red licorice (never black!).  I also enjoy Reese's and Snickers....see I told you I loved sweets! What are your favorite treats? Follow Friday is a weekly meme hosted by Parajunkee's View and Alison Can Read . This week's question is:  What superhero is your alter-ego? Oh my goodness this is a hard question.  I am not really into super heroes but I do love Batman.  He has an awesome car and a ton of really handy gadgets.  Also, the bat cave is pretty freaking amazing! Have a great weekend!

Happy Friday!! (7)

Happy Friday everyone!  I have the day off today so I am super excited for a three day weekend!  The Book Blog Hop is a weekly meme hosted by Jen at Crazy for Books . This week's question is:  “What is your favorite spooky book (i.e. mystery/suspense, thriller, ghost story, etc.)?” My favorite spooky book is The Shining by Stephen King.  I read it in Junior High and it still scares me to think about it!  The book is way scarier than the movie and I remember reading it when I was home by myself and being completely freaked out.  What's your favorite spooky book? Follow Friday is a weekly meme hosted by Parajunkee's View and Alison Can Read . This week's question is:  If you could have characters from a particular book meet and form an epic storyline with characters from a particular TV series, which would you choose and why? I would have the characters from the Fever series by Karen Marie Moning join up with the cast of Buffy th...

Friday is finally here!!!!  This week has been super crazy and is all kind of blur.  I am so glad I get to actually relax this weekend. Follow Friday is a weekly meme hosted by Parajunkee's View and Alison Can Read . This week's question is:  If you could pick one character in a book, movie or television show to swap places with, who would it be? My Answer:  I would switch places with Claire Fraser from the Outlander series because I would love to be able to travel through time.  She gets to see some really amazing historical events and I think that would be awesome!! Who would you switch places with?? The Book Blog Hop is a weekly meme hosted by Jen at Crazy for Books . “It’s time to spread some love beyond the borders of the Book Blogger Hop! This week, we aren’t answering a question. We are spotlighting our fellow bloggers. The Book Blog Hop is a weekly meme hosted by Jen at Crazy for Books .   It’s a great way to meet new bloggers and check out   some cool blogs. This week’s question is:   In honor of Banned Books Week, what is your favorite “banned or frequently challenged book”? This is such a hard question because there are so many books I love on the banned book list.   I will definitely have to say that of the last decade, one of my favorite books on the banned book list is A Wrinkle in Time.   I loved that book as a child (and as an adult) and I can’t imagine not having been able to read it.   Other favorites include The Hunger Games, Harry Potter and The Giver. What banned book(s) are on your list? Follow Friday is a weekly meme hosted by Parajunkee’s View and Alison Can Read . This week's question is:  What book that hasn't been turned into a movie (yet) would you most like to see make it to the big screen, and who would you like cast as your ...

Happy Friday!!! (3)

Oh my goodness, I thought Friday would never get here!!  It has been such a long week! Now it's time for Friday memes! YAY! The Book Blog Hop is a weekly meme hosted by Jen at Crazy for Books . This week's question is:  “As a book blogger, how do you introduce yourself in your profile?” I have to say my introduction is pretty lame.  I am still a little unsure of how much information I should put out on the web about myself and thus kept my 'about me' pretty short, sweet, and to the point.  Maybe I will have to remedy that....what do you all think??? Follow Friday is a weekly meme hosted by Parajunkee's View and Alison Can Read . This week's question is:  It's that pesky magic book fairy again! She has another wish: What imaginary book world would you like to make a reality? I am not sure I can answer this.  Most of my favorite books are set in places/times that I don't think I would want to live (i.e. The Hunger Games, The Bronze Hor...

It’s Friday!!   That means it’s time for some great memes and the opportunity to check out some cool new blogs! The Book Blog Hop is a weekly meme hosted by Jen at Crazy for Books .     This week’s question is: “Many of us primarily read one genre of books, with others sprinkled in. If authors stopped writing that genre, what genre would you start reading? Or would you give up reading completely if you couldn’t read that genre anymore?” I read a lot of historical fiction with YA and contemporary fiction mixed in.   If I couldn’t read historical fiction any more, I would probably read more non-fiction.   I used to read a ton of non-fiction but have slowed down dramatically in the last few years and I kind of miss it. Follow Friday is a weekly meme hosted by Parajunkee’s View and Alison Can Read . This week’s question is:   Have you ever wanted a villain to win at the end of a story?   If yes, which one? Hmmmm, this is a hard ques...

This week's question is:  “What are you most looking forward to this fall/autumn season – A particular book release? Halloween? The leaves changing color? Cooler temperatures? A vacation? (If your next season is other than fall/autumn, tell us about it and what you are most looking forward to in your part of the world!)” I am looking forward to cooler temperatures!  This summer was brutal!!  I am ready to be able to wear sweaters and hoodies and to be comfortable outside.  Also, this week I decided to participate in Feature and Follow Friday.  It is a meme hosted by Parajunkee's View and Alison Can Read. This week's question is :  If you could change the end of any book (or series), which book would you choose?  Why? I would complete change the end of My Sister's Keeper...

What about you?

This week's question is:  “Let’s talk crazy book titles! Highlight one or two (or as many as you like!) titles in your personal collection that have the most interesting titles! If you can’t find any, feel free to find one on the internet!” There are two titles that I think are cool in my collection:    "When Christ and His Saints Slept" by Sharon Kay Penman    "Tolstoy and the Purple Chair" by Nina Sankovitch Are there any cool titles in your collections?

This week's question is:  What is the one ARC you are dying to get your hands on right now? I am really hoping to get my hands on Becoming Marie Antoinette by Juliet Gray!  I requested it from netgalley.com so we'll see if they approve my request. What about you?

The Book Blogger Hop is a weekly meme hosted by Jen at Crazy for Books .  It's a way to meet other bloggers and check out some cool new blogs. This week's question is:  "Highlight one book you have received this week that you can't wait to dig into!" Okay, I have a confession to make.  I have been so busy this week that I have not had time to get any new books.  I have several waiting for me at the library but I won't be able to pick them up until this weekend.  : ( Did you all get any exciting new books this week?

Book Blog Hop (10)

The Book Blogger Hop is a weekly meme hosted by Jen at Crazy for Books and is a great way to meet other book bloggers and check out some really neat blogs. This week's question is:  What's the one genre you wish you could get into but just can't?   I wish that I was more interested in science fiction.  I have friends who really love this genre but every time I try to read a science fiction book, I get really bored or the story will seem really lame and I just give up. What do you all think?

Book Blog Hop (9)

The Book Blogger Hop is a weekly meme hosted by Jen at Crazy for Books and is a great way to connect with other bloggers and find some really cool new blogs. This week's question is:  How/where do you get your books?  Do you buy them or go to the library?  Is there a certain website you use like paperbackswap? I get a lot of books from the library.  I am very picky about books that I purchase for my collection and I don't have a huge budget for book buying so the library is a great resource for me.  Also, the library in my town is amazing and has a fantastic collection so it makes sense that I would go there. When I do buy books, I usually go to amazon.com or Half-Price books.  I used to be a frequent Border's shopper but the local Border's closed a few months ago. Where do you get your books?

Book Blog Hop (7)

The Book Blog Hop is a weekly meme hosted by Jen at Crazy for Books and is a way for book bloggers to meet new people and view awesome blogs. This week's question is:  What keeps you reading beyond the first few pages of a book, and what makes you want to stop reading a book and put it back on the shelf? If I am not sucked in to the story in the first few pages, I will stop reading.  I very rarely stop reading a book in the middle and put it back on the shelf.  I always feel like if I can make that far into a book, then I should just finish it.  The times that I have stopped and not finished a book have occurred when the book is so bad that I just don't want to read it and will find anything to do besides reading (which is normally not how I roll).  Currently there are two books on my shelf that I plan to finish but that I couldn't get through the first time. What do you all think?

Book Blog Hop (6)

The Book Blogger Hop is a weekly meme hosted by Jen at Crazy for Books and is a way to meet new bloggers and check out some really awesome blogs. This week's question is:  When did you realize reading was your passion and a truly important part of your life?   I can not really answer this question.  I have loved reading my entire life; I used to get in trouble in school because I would read in class instead of paying attention.  I also would get grounded from reading non-school books because my parents knew that was a really good (i.e. bad) punishment for me.  I would have to say that reading has been a life long love of mine, there wasn't ever one 'aha' moment for me. What about you?

Book Blogger Hop is a weekly meme hosted by Jen at Crazy for Books and it's a way to for book bloggers to connect and check out other blogs. This week's question is:  How many books are currently in your 'To Be Read' (TBR) pile? My goodreads 'to be read' list says that I have 153 books on it.  I feel like there may be more.  I never really make progress in my TBR pile because I am always adding more books to it. How about you?  How many books are in your TBR pile?
