Top Ten Books On My Fall TBR List

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.

This week's topic:  Top Ten Books on My Fall TBR List

I have a ton of books that I want to read this fall but here are a few of the ones that are at the top of the list.

1.) Les Miserables by Victor Hugo-This will probably take me the entire fall to read but I am going to get it done before the end of the year.
2.) Mistress of Rome by Kate Quinn-I bought this last year but still haven't read it.  I have seen so many bloggers rave about it that I think I should finally make time for it.
3.) The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss-This is for one of my challenges and I am really curious about it. I know it's long but hopefully I can get to it.
4.) Monster in My Closet by R.L. Naquin-I just bought this book and it looks pretty fun, I can't wait to read it.
5.) A Clash of Kings by George R.R. Martin-I've missed all the Game of Thrones characters!
6.) 11/22/63 by Stephen King-I have been trying to make time for this since Christmas, I am definitely going to read it this fall.
7.) Tully by Paullina Simons-I loved Paullina Simon's trilogy about Tatiana and Alexander and I really want to check out some of her other books.
8.) Cloudsplitter by Russell Banks-This book sounds so interesting, I hope it will be as good I as it sounds.
9.) City of Lost Souls by Cassandra Clare-I have seen less than stellar reviews of this book but I still want to see where Clare takes the story.
10.) The Fault in Our Stars by John Green-Why have I not read this yet?!  I feel like everyone has read this but me!

What books are on your Fall TBR list?  Leave me a link so I can check it out!

  2. I picked Les Mis for a project in an English class my senior year...I gave up about 30 pages in and just got the abridged version (we were *supposed* to read the actual version of what we picked...but I just didn't have time). We then picked out 3 emotional scenes and wrote about them, and I did, and I got my paper back saying he was excited to see someone pick ones other than the "normal ones" like Cosette at the well...and well, that scene? Not in my abridged version....:D
I have Les Mis on my Kindle to actually read the whole thing. Should be good bedtime reading!

  3. There are some long ones in there. Everyone loves Victor Hugo, but I've never read Les Miserables or Three Musketeers. I'd also like to make time for the new Stephen King. I've heard good things.

  4. 11/22/63 is fantastic! I'm glad you're going to read it! And I really need to read the A Song of Ice and Fire series. I only watch the show. Great list!

  5. I've not read The Fault in our Stars either! In fact it is on my TTT list as well. I have read City of Lost Souls, but I hope to soon. I just bought the book at Target. A girl at the library where I work keeps telling me I have to read it so she can talk to me about it. Happy reading!

Review and Giveaway: "Distant Signs" by Anne Richter

Synopsis: Distant Signs is an intimate portrait of two families spanning three generations amidst turbulent political change, behind and beyond the Berlin Wall. In 1960s East Germany, Margret, a professor’s daughter from the city, meets and marries Hans, from a small village in Thuringia. The couple struggle to contend with their different backgrounds, and the emotional scars they bear from childhood in the aftermath of war. As East German history gradually unravels, with collision of the personal and political, their two families’ hidden truths are quietly revealed. An exquisitely written novel with strongly etched characters that stay with you long after the book is finished and an authentic portrayal of family life behind the iron curtain based on personal experience of the author who is East German and was 16 years old at the fall of the Berlin Wall. Why do families repeat destructive patterns of behaviour across generations? Should the personal take precedence over

Mailbox Monday (49)

It's time for another Mailbox Monday post!  Once again I could not resist the cheap ebooks that Amazon and Barnes and Noble were promoting this week.  I really need to stop!  I already have more than I can read.  I also was able to spend a little time browsing at the library and I came home with a nice stack of books.  These days, I hardly ever get to spend time at the library by myself for more than a minute or two so it was wonderful to have time to just wander and see what I could find. Purchased (for kindle): The Color of Secrets by Lindsay Ashford The One I Was by Eliza Graham House of Bathory by Linda Lafferty   Purchased (for nook): One Night in Winter by Simon Sebag Montefiore  Becoming Queen Victoria by Kate Williams From the Library: The Messenger by Daniel Silva   The Ripper's Wife by Brandy Purdy Hotel Moscow by Talia Carner Brazen by Katherine Longshore What books did you get this week?

Happy Sunday everybody!  September is over and I can hardly believe it.  It seems as though the month has flown by.  Now I'm excited for fall and all of the upcoming holidays.  October is the start of my favorite time of year and I'm hoping there will be plenty of room for reading in between all of the upcoming events. I requested some new holiday books from the library and had no idea all of my holds would come in at once so I need to get moving on these.  I'm really excited to dig into some sweet, fluffy reads and these will do just the trick. From the Library: A Snow Country Christmas by Linda Lael Miller This is the fourth book in a series that I really enjoyed so I'm eager to get started on it. Holly and Ivy by Fern Michaels The Christmas Room by Catherine Anderson I was so intrigued by the cover on this one that I had to pick it up. For Review (from NetGalley): I Was Anastasia by Ariel Lawhon     I really need to st
