Happy Friday! (29)

Feature and Follow Friday is a weekly meme hosted by Parajunkee's View and Alison Can Read . Q: What is one book that you would be nervous to see a movie adaption of because you think the movie could never live up to the book? I have heard rumblings about movies being made of Outlander and The Bronze Horseman.  I absolutely loved these books but I don't think I could handle either as a movie.  I can't think of a single actor/actress who could do any of the characters justice nor do I think it possible for a moviemaker to show the kinds of emotions that were portrayed in the book.  If a movie was made of either of these books, I would probably see it but I have a feeling I would be disappointed.  That being said when I heard they were making a movie of The Hunger Games I was really on the fence about it and look how awesome that movie turned out.  So I guess it really depend on how true to the story the movie stays and how good the actors are....

Woohoo!! FRIDAY!  It's been a super busy week so I am so glad it's the weekend! Feature and Follow Friday is a weekly meme hosted by Alison Can Read and Parajunkee's View . This week's question is:  Do you read one book at a time or do you switch back and forth between two or more? For some reason, I can only read one book at a time.  If I try to read more than one book, I wind up putting one completely aside (sometimes for good) to read another.  I also get kind of stressed out about having more than one unfinished book.  I just like to read one and then move on to the next. Do you read more than one book at a time?

Happy Friday (27)

Happy Friday everyone!  The weather is supposed to be gorgeous here and I am looking forward to a relaxing weekend and the NCAA tournament (Rock Chalk Jayhawk!!).  Feature and Follow Friday is a weekly meme hosted by Parajunkee's View and Alison Can Read . Q: What is the best book you've read in the last month? What is the worst book you've read in the last month? The best book I have read this month is You Know When the Men Are Gone by Siobhan Fallon.  It's a book of short stories about soldiers and their families at Fort Hood.  It was really thought-provoking. I am totally going to get flamed for this but the worst book I have read this month was probably Macbeth.  I love Shakespeare but this one just didn't do it for me. What are the best and worst books you have read in the past month?

Happy Friday!! (26)

Happy Friday everyone!! I had a pretty craptastic week so I am excited for a nice relaxing weekend! Feature and Follow Friday is a weekly meme hosted by Alison Can Read and Parajunkee's View . Q: Have you ever looked at book's cover and thought, This is going to horrible? But, was instead pleasantly surprised? Show us the cover and tell us about the book. I must have seen the Outlander books a hundred times at the library.  Every time I would see it on the shelf I would pick it up and think, 'Hmm...no way' and move on to something else.  The cover did absolutely nothing for me.  I honestly don't think I ever would have read it if my aunt hadn't raved about the series.  I must say that I was completing misjudging the book because I absolutely loved Outlander and the subsequent books in the series.  What cover turned you off initially?

Follow Friday is a weekly meme hosted by Parajunkee's View and Alison Can Read . This week's question:  What book would you love to see made into a movie or television show and do you have actors/actresses in mind to play the main characters? This is such a hard question!  So many books that I love have already been made into movies so it's hard to think of another.  I think Vampire Academy/Bloodlines could make for a good t.v. show following all the shenanigans of the Moroi and Dhampirs at St. Vladimir's.  There are enough different characters and crazy things going on to keep a show interesting and there is too much going on to make a movie.  I think they would have to pick unknown actors for this show though.  I can't imagine any famous actors doing justice to the roles of Adrian, Lissa, Rose and Dmitri; I love these characters and the cast would need to be as similar to the book characters as possible. What books would you ha...

Follow Friday is a weekly meme hosted by Parajunkee's View and Alison Can Read. Question of the week:  Take a picture or describe where you like to read the most... I like to read in my living room on our comfy couches.  Usually Turbo is running around and playing while I am reading but sometimes he likes to come curl up with me. Where do you like to read?  FYI...You can now follow me in several ways:  twitter, goodreads, GFC, RSS or via email!  Have a great weekend!

Happy Friday! (23)

This has been such a weird week so I am really happy to have a few days away from the office! Feature and Follow Friday is a weekly meme hosted by Parajunkee's View and Alison Can Read . This week's question:   I like unique names for characters and am looking forward to coming up with some when I start writing. What’s the most unique character name you’ve come across? Oh my goodness, there are so many books with unique names in them and I am struggling to think of all of them.  I do have to say that one of my favorites is 'Elphaba' from Wicked.  It's one of a kind but it fits that character so well. I alos always think of Cricket and Calliope from Lola and the Boy Next Door and there is also Katniss and Peeta from The Hunger Games.  The Black Dagger Brotherhood books are definitely chock full of unique names as are Twilight (Renesmee anyone?) and Harry Potter.  Anyway, what are some unique character names you have come across? Also,...

Follow Friday is a weekly meme hosted by Alison Can Read and Parajunkee's View . Q: What would your prefer: reading your favorite book over and over again until you got sick of it OR reading 100s of mediocre books? And why? Ugh!  I can't imagine reading hundreds of mediocre books.  I would rather never read again!  I would definitely prefer to read a favorite book over and over...there have been times that I have gotten into a reading rut due to reading mediocre books and it makes me not want to read at all.  At least if I was rereading a story I loved, I would be enjoying it and remember how and why the story captured my interest in the first place. What about you?

Happy Friday! (21)

Whew!  I am so glad it's Friday!  This week has been crazy (I turned 29 on Monday!)  and there is so much going on this weekend.  I am actually ready for it to be next Friday when all of the craziness will have died down. Follow Friday is a weekly meme hosted by Alison Can Read and Parajunkee's View . This week's question:   Define what characteristics your favorite books share. Do they all have a kickass heroine or is the hot love interest the Alpha Male? I read such a wide variety of books that it is hard to see which characteristics they have in common.  I do know that my most favorite books tend to have amazing well-written stories that suck me into them and make me never want to leave.  I love being so completely immersed in a story that it feels like you literally have to pull yourself out of the book and back into the real world.   Books like The Hunger Games, Outlander, Vampire Academy  and ...

Follow Friday is a weekly meme hosted by Parajunkee's View and Alison Can Read . This week's question is:  Which book genre do you avoid at all costs and why? I will read just about anything but I don't read sci-fi and high fantasy.  I don't know why but I have never been able to get into those genres.  If I see a cover I like and then find out it is sci-fi or high fantasy, I kind of turn my nose up at it (SORRY).  It is very possible that I am missing out on some great books but so far, I am not sure. What genre do you shy away from?  And if you are a high fantasy or sci-fi fan, try to talk me into it.

Follow Friday is a weekly meme hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read . Q: What's the craziest thing you've ever done to get your hands on any particular book? As much as I love books, I don't think I have ever done anything crazy in order to get a particular book. I know that is so boring but I haven't ever had much trouble getting the books I want.  I wasn't into Harry Potter at all until after the 5th book came out so I never went and stood in line for it and I haven't stood in line to meet any authors or anything like that either.  Lame. Do you have cool story about the crazy thing you did to get a book?

It's Friday and I have a 3 day weekend!! Follow Friday is a weekly meme hosted by Alison Can Read and Parajunkee's View . This week's question is:  Many readers/bloggers are also big music fans. Tell us about a few of your favorite bands/singers that we should listen to in 2012. I listen to a wide variety of music but I do listen to a lot of country.  Right now I am really loving Eric Church, The Band Perry and Chris Young.  They each are great musicians and I absolutely love Chris Young's voice. What are you listening to?

It's Friday!  This week has been rough; going back to work after 10 days off was brutal! Follow Friday is a weekly meme hosted by Parajunkee's View and Alison Can Read . Question of the Week: Go count the number of unread books sitting on your shelf. How many? I counted last week and I have 81 unread books on my shelves.  GAH.  I keep going to the library to get more books when I own enough books to keep me busy for the whole year!  I am so hoping I can get my act together and get a good chunk of these read this year.  How many unread books are currently on your shelves?

Follow Friday is a weekly meme hosted by Parajunkee's View and Alison Can Read . Question of the Week: The New Year is here -- and everyone wants to know your New Years Blogging Resolution! What are you going to try to revise, revamp and redo for 2012 on your blog? 1.) New Design:  I recently changed my blog design but it is still pretty blah.  I am planning on working on that this year. 2.) Comments:  I read a lot of blogs but for some reason, I rarely comment.  I have been trying to do better but I really want to work on commenting more. 3.) Better Reviews:  My reviews have become progressively worse in the past couple months.  Due to the fact that I was trying to hit my goal of 200 books, I was reading too fast and pumping out some really poorly written and not well thought out reviews.  This is part of the reason I don't plan to set such a high goal for myself next year.  I really want to improve the quality of my reviews in 2012. ...

Follow Friday is a weekly meme hosted by Alison Can Read and Parajunkee's View . It's Friday, almost Christmas and I don't have go back to work until January 3!!! Yippee!! Here is today's question:  If you had to spend eternity inside the pages of a book which book would you choose and why? This is a really hard one.  I would probably choose Outlander or Little House on the Prairie.   I would love to hang out in Scotland with Jamie Fraser or go live in a log cabin with Laura.  I also wouldn't mind spending eternity inside the pages of any of the Black Dagger Brotherhood books.  Hope everyone has a happy holiday season!!

Follow Friday is a weekly meme hosted by Parajunkee's View and Alison Can Read . This week's question:  When you've read a book, what do you do with it? (Keep it, give it away, donate it, sell it, swap it..?) If it's a book I have purchased, I simply keep it and loan it to friends if I think they will enjoy it.  In the past, I didn't have much trouble getting rid of books that I didn't love but lately I am having a hard time convincing myself to get rid of books.  Lately, I have been reading a ton of library books so I obviously just return them to the library when I am done. What you do with books when you are done with them?

Follow Friday is a weekly meme hosted by Parajunkee's View and Alison Can Read . This week's question is:   Keeping with the Spirit of Giving this season, what book do you think EVERYONE should read and if you could, you would buy it for all of your family and friends? Of the books I read this year, I would have to say Tolstoy and the Purple Chair .  It is about how the joy of reading, how great books are and how they can impact one's life in ways you can't even imagine. Overall, my favorite book is Fahrenheit 451   and this is one I would definitely buy for everyone I know.  It is about a dystopian world where books are outlawed (the horror!) and I just love it. What books do you think everyone should read?

Follow Friday is a weekly meme hosted by Parajunkee's View and Alison Can Read . This week's question is:  Question: What is your biggest pet peeve when it comes to books? Maybe you don't like love triangles or thin plots? Tell us about it! Honestly, I am getting really sick of series books.  I just want to read a stand alone novel with a good plot, fun characters and an ending with no loose ends. I also really hate weak female lead characters.  I get tired of the whole "oh I need a man to be happy and to take care of me" story.  What are your book pet peeves?

Follow Friday is a weekly meme hosted by Parajunkee's View and Alison Can Read . This week's question is:    It's Thanksgiving Day in the U.S. so we want to know what you are Thankful for - blogging related of course! Who has helped you out along the way? What books are you thankful for reading? I am thankful for how welcoming the blogging community is.  I learn so much from all the blogs I read and I am super thankful for all of my followers.  I am also really thankful for NetGalley; it is so awesome that they allow me to read and review newer books.  What are you thankful for?

This has been the longest, slowest week ever!  I am so happy for Friday to finally be here! Follow Friday is a weekly meme hosted by Parajunkee's View and Alison Can Read . Massie                          11/22/63   by Stephen King                         Lover Mine by J.R. Ward What's on your Christmas list?
