Synopsis: Distant Signs is an intimate portrait of two families spanning three generations amidst turbulent political change, behind and beyond the Berlin Wall. In 1960s East Germany, Margret, a professor’s daughter from the city, meets and marries Hans, from a small village in Thuringia. The couple struggle to contend with their different backgrounds, and the emotional scars they bear from childhood in the aftermath of war. As East German history gradually unravels, with collision of the personal and political, their two families’ hidden truths are quietly revealed. I have yet to read anything by Susanna Kearsley, but her books look so tempting! Enjoy your week...and here's MY WEEKLY SUNDAY/MONDAY UPDATES
ReplyDeleteHi Denise,
ReplyDeleteGiven the amount of titles which pass through the NetGalley system each week, I think that two is showing great restraint, unless of course, there are others hidden away somewhere that you aren't telling us about! LOL
I have had Susanna Kearsley on my list of author to try, for absolutely ages now and I really do hope to get there very soon, as 'The Splendour Falls' sounds like another great book.
I don't read an awful lot of historical fiction, however, when I do, it has to be something which is going to hold my attention and have plenty of substance to the storyline.
Thanks for sharing, enjoy your books and have a good week.
Yvonne
