Mini Reviews (8)

This book is awesome.  I just happened upon it at the library and was immediately intrigued.  It is one of the creepiest books I've read in a long time.  There were points where I had to stop reading it because it was I was home alone and getting freaked out.  I love when a book can really freak me out! The story kept me interested from page one and I never saw the end coming.  There was one character, Katherine, who I didn't like and I thought she really didn't add much to the story as a whole.  Otherwise, it was a great read. 4 stars.

If you haven't read any of Carlos Ruiz Zafon's books, you should do so ASAP!  I read The Shadow of the Wind several years ago and loved it and have been meaning to read this one for a long time.  The Angel's Game is the second book in the Cemetary of Forgotten Books series and I really enjoyed it.  It's definitely weird but in a cool way.  The writing is beautiful and the characters are incredibly unique.  The only thing that bothered me is that the end seemed to leave some questions unanswered for me but it didn't completely ruin my overall feelings for the book.  4 stars.

This is another sequel that I've been meaning to read for a long time and finally got around to.  This is actually more like a prequel to The Sleepwalkers but was written afterward.  The story focuses on Willi Kraus who is a Jewish German detective in pre-World War II Berlin.  It's a mystery with Hitler's rise to power as a backdrop.  The historical aspects are super interesting and the murder mystery is good and creepy.  There is a third book in this series and I definitely plan to pick it up soon.  If you like historical mysteries, you should check this one out.  4 stars.

  1. I thought that The Winter People was a great read. I will admit that it's not the best book to read late at night. Glad that you enjoyed it too.
