Top Ten Bookish Confessions

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and The Bookish.
This week's topic:  Top Ten Bookish Confessions
I don't really have any confessions.  Most of the 'confessions' on my list are more like bookish idiosyncracies.
1.) I always return library books on time.-I know this doesn't sound like a confession but I am kind of crazy about making sure I turn them in on time.  I will go way out of my way to make sure that they aren't late.
2.) I don't like Sarah Dessen's books.-I'm sorry, I tried but I just don't get the appeal.  I always feel bad because so many bloggers love Dessen's books.
3.) I can't read more than one book at a time.-It stresses me out!
4.) I HATE dust jackets.-They look pretty on the shelf but I they really get on my nerves.  I have to take them off before I read a book.
5.) I do judge a book by its cover.-Sometimes I can't help it!
6.) There have been a few times where I have taken a long lunch just to finish a book.-Shh!  Don't tell my boss.
7.) Sometimes I would rather read a book than be around actual people.-Sad to say but so true.
8.) I don't like to dog ear pages but I'll do it in a pinch.-I try to find something to use as a book mark (sticky notes, receipts, etc) but sometimes I just have to dog ear a page.
9.) I judge peoples' reading preferences.-Usually I am just happy that people read no matter what genre they prefer.  However there have been times where I have seen people bad mouth a book I love and if they only read chick lit, for example, I tend to give them the side eye.

That's all I can think of right now.  What are some of your bookish confessions?

Comments

  1. Similar to your number two, I don't like Susane Colasanti books. I've only read one, but I wasn't thrilled with it. I don't know if I will read anything else by her.

Sometimes I would rather read a book than be around actual people, too.

  2. I'm wondering if Sarah Dessen is becoming passe. She was so popular in my library a few years back and girls would read every single one of her books and pine for more. Now I don't think I have any of her fans left and just a few girls who stumble upon her books. I've read two of her books and didn't find them that compelling either.

  3. Psst.... me too *confession number 2 cough* But Im always too afraid to say it out loud.

4 and 8 are also true for me as well. And I've never taken a long lunch, but I've stayed up until 5 am to finish a book despite having work the next day! :S

    Here are my bookish confessions!

  4. I hate dust jackets too yet I was still annoyed when someone lost my dust jacket for Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.

Review and Giveaway: "Distant Signs" by Anne Richter

Synopsis: Distant Signs is an intimate portrait of two families spanning three generations amidst turbulent political change, behind and beyond the Berlin Wall. In 1960s East Germany, Margret, a professor’s daughter from the city, meets and marries Hans, from a small village in Thuringia. The couple struggle to contend with their different backgrounds, and the emotional scars they bear from childhood in the aftermath of war. As East German history gradually unravels, with collision of the personal and political, their two families’ hidden truths are quietly revealed. An exquisitely written novel with strongly etched characters that stay with you long after the book is finished and an authentic portrayal of family life behind the iron curtain based on personal experience of the author who is East German and was 16 years old at the fall of the Berlin Wall. Why do families repeat destructive patterns of behaviour across generations? Should the personal take precedence over

Top Ten Books I Recommend The Most

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish . This week's topic:  Top Ten Books I Recommend the Most 1.) The Bronze Horseman by Paullina Simons   2.) Outlander by Diana Gabaldon           If you read my blog at all, you know I love these two books so much!  I am not afraid to suggest them to anyone who I think might enjoy them. 3.) The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins - I was definitely recommending this book left and right when the first movie came out. 4.) The Fault in Our Stars by John Green 5.) A Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin           These are two books that I just recently started recommending but they are books that can appeal to anyone so they are easy picks when someone asks for a recommendation. 6.) Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead  - I get a little embarrassed when I recommend this book to people but seriously, just because it has vampires does not mean it is like Twilight. 7.) The Giver by Lois

The Book Blogger Hop is a weekly meme hosted by Jen at Crazy for Books .  It's a way to meet other bloggers and check out some cool new blogs. Okay, I have a confession to make.  I have been so busy this week that I have not had time to get any new books.  I have several waiting for me at the library but I won't be able to pick them up until this weekend.  : ( Did you all get any exciting new books this week?
