Happy Thursday! I'm linking up with Bookish (and Not So Bookish) Thoughts over at Bookishly Boisterous.
1.) I have to stay away from eBay. It's the devil! I just bought all of these Nancy Drew books to add to Julia's collection. When she gets older, she is going to have a fully stocked library of my favorite childhood books. In addition to the books I've purchased for her, I still have a bunch of my old books (like Anne of Green Gables, Chronicles of Narnia, etc.) at my mom's house. I can't wait until she is old enough to read these!
2.) I'm in a huge reading rut right now. I want to read all the things but I seem to keep picking up duds. I've only read two books this month; I have two more that I'm working on but I probably won't get beyond that. I really need a good book to get me back in the swing of things!
3.) We are having my daughter's third birthday party this Saturday. I've done a really good job of scaling back after the huge event we had last year but it's still stressing me out. I have to accept that I don't have time to clean every inch of my house and people are just going to have to deal with it.
4.) I am excited to work on Julia's birthday cake. We are doing a kind of sprinkle theme for the party so her cake will hopefully look similar to the picture above. Or I could just wind up with a huge pinterest fail and serve cupcakes instead.
5.) I have decided to start the Presidential reading challenge and have bought my first two books. I don't know how long it will take me to get through it but I'm excited to get started.
6.) I have become obsessed with the Hamilton soundtrack and have been listening to it on repeat. I can't believe I took so long to listen to it. I always seem to be suspicious of things that are super popular (which explains why it took me YEARS to start Harry Potter). Listening to the soundtrack what inspired me to start the challenge. Even though I have a degree in history, my focus has always been on European history and I have very little knowledge of American history. I seriously knew nothing about Alexander Hamilton before now.
7.) I need a new show to binge watch. I just finished the last seasons of Downton Abbey and The Americans and have no idea what to watch next. Ideas? I really want to go back to Criminal Minds but if I start, I don't think I'll ever sleep again.
8.) I am originally from a lovely coastal city in SoCal and have decided that I will never adjust to the wretchedly hot midwestern summers. I'm ready for fall weather!

Gorgeous cake! There is a lot of stress involved when you visualize how perfect everything "should" be, but nobody notices nooks and crannies in your house...lol.
ReplyDeleteRelax...and I love your idea of collecting your childhood favorites.
