From Goodreads: When alchemist Sydney is ordered into hiding to protect the life of Moroi princess Jill Dragomir, the last place she expects to be sent is a human private school in Palm Springs, California. But at their new school, the drama is only just beginning.
Populated with new faces as well as familiar ones, Bloodlines explores all the friendship, romance, battles and betrayals that made the #1 New York Times bestselling Vampire Academy series so addictive - this time in a part-vampire, part-human setting where the stakes are even higher and everyone's out for blood.
My Thoughts: YAY! I loved the Vampire Academy series and it was awesome to see all my favorite characters again in Bloodlines! Though Rose makes a brief appearance, this is definitely Sydney's story and by the end of the book, I decided that Sydney is just as awesome a character as Rose. She has a lot more self-control but is really just as much of a bad ass as Rose is. We get to see a bit of how her life was before she met Rose and we get to see how helping Rose has impacted her position as an Alchemist. Her family is kind of screwed up which was not what I expected from how she was described in the VA series. I loved that this new series showcases characters that had minor roles in the Vampire Academy series, i.e. Sydney, Eddie and Jill. It was also interesting to see Mead delve a little deeper into Adrian's demons and I think I understood him a lot better at the end of this story. There are a ton of surprising things that happen in this story and the very end was a big shocker. I normally don't enjoy spinoffs but if this book is any indication of how the rest of the series will go, then I think it's going to be fantastic. I seriously can't wait to see what happens in The Golden Lily. I am just not sure I can wait until June! 4 stars.
